自前 ・ ジマエ

Jimae

Jimae (自前 — “one’s own; self-provided”) is a family of sovereign applications. Each lives in its own HTML file together with the document it edits. Opening the file runs the application; saving it writes another complete file. No server, no account, no installer, no network.

Your work shouldn’t turn into a cassette tape with no player. A sovereign application keeps the two together.

On the iPhone: A Jimae file saved on an iPhone will not run by itself. See steps to install and use Jimae there.

“notebook or register”

the spreadsheet. A sovereign spreadsheet: grid, formulas, and recalculation in one file that needs no account, server, or network.

“notes written alongside”

the document editor. A writing application with styles, pagination, review mode, attachments, and eleven interface languages — in one file.

Use “Open” to run an application in your browser. “Download” saves its HTML file to your device so you can keep and open it there. Keep that file and it keeps working with the network cable cut. Save from inside the application: its own Save writes a complete file, and its Help says what that file carries. The browser’s Save Page As is not that — it writes whatever the browser chooses to keep of the page, outside the application’s trusted save path, and the result is the browser’s file rather than a Jimae one. Updates are never automatic: an app can check for a newer signed release only when you ask it to, and moving to one is opening your file there and saving.

Work in progress

Etsuran or Kasane are partially functional and under development. No preview download is offered yet. Files and behavior may change before a first release.

“perusal”

the captured-site reader. Read a captured website offline: pages, supported styles, and images travel together in one immutable HTML file. Creating captures requires the companion producer, Hyōgushi.

Partial functionality. Capture fidelity and large captures are still being qualified; interactive website behavior is unavailable. Hyōgushi is currently development tooling and needs a distributable package before a usable release.

“overlay”

the PDF annotator. Read, annotate and fill a PDF, and keep the PDF, your annotations and form values, and the application together in one file. Export PDF hands the result to any other reader.

Partial functionality. PDF viewing, annotation, forms, and export are implemented; major bugs and save/reopen behavior remain under review. Ink creation and editing are deferred.
